So how was everyones long weekend (if you got one)?

Mine was wonderful! Starting with a day at Model X with the little one and then an afternoon gallivanting about local playgrounds. But the real adventures started on Sunday morning when against the warnings of the weather man and the camp site owner we decided to set off for a night camping up north at Waiwera.

The weather was clear, clam and collected most of the day which we spent around the hot pools, speeding down slides (I screamed many times might I add) and soaking up the natural heat. But on heading back to the campsite beach side we realised we had forgotten to pack a torch or a pack of cards to pass the dark evening.

This called for a trip to the dairy down the road, $7.50 later I had picked up required cards and a box of candles and matches. Then after finishing off a canned beverage we had a specialised candle holder for a night of card games, rain and wind.

The next morning the campsite owner was pleased to see our tent still securely fastened to the ground and all limbs intact, there was even enough of a break in the weather to let us pack up the tent in peace. What a wonderful long weekend it was.
