Heya folks,
I just got in from the Waitakere Library Make a Manga & Create a Character competitions prizegiving. I must say it was pretty cool, there were so many talented young things all gathered in one place. Keep your eyes peeled for new up and comers in the Waitakere comic scene. Stu from Heroes for Sale (and fellow judge) was kind enough to donate a stack of graphic novels to those highly commended in the competition and all were well recieved.
Biggest congratulations to those winners (who were rewarded accordingly), if you’re keen to see the creations of these folk then either head over to the Waitakere Central library in Henderson, otherwise they should be up on their website soon enough and I’ll let you know.

On an entirely different note, I went to Denny’s last night with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. Now the birthday/friends aspect of it was just fine and dandy, but the Dennys component – oh dear. It was a shocker.
The service has really gone down hill there in recent years, we had to wait half an hour for water. We didn’t even end up getting desserts at the end of the night because it took them half an hour to come and get our order and then another half an hour for us to give up on a sundae arriving, needless to say we left as it was getting late and we had other things to do. The sundae never arrived.

I’ve come to decide that Dennys is fine for a couple slices of garlic bread and perhaps some feijoa juice – fudge cake, sure. But it’s a bit of a downer for a birthday dinner that was meant to be tonnes of fun and instead turned into a bit of a grumble-fest.
Needless to say we’ll go somewhere different next time.

On a more relevant note, poor Mr Midlake seems to have misplaced his Roscoe….
