I wrote a poem yesterday which I would like to share…

Last night there was a thunder storm
Last night there was rain
It was just about 4:30
When all the drama came

The rumble rattled windows
The rain resembled rock
I was rather frightened
Even the kittens came in a flock

I suspected a volcano
Had blown it’s top last night
I pondered how this action
Would come to affect my life

I prayed for friends in Auckland
In hopes they would survive
I prayed to God in hopes
That I may stay alive

But after a short time
Of feeling quite forlorn
I in my own head realised
T’was merely a thunderstorm!

This actually happened might I add, I was woken up at 4:30 this morning by the loudest rolling of thunder that lasted a long long long time, and I honestly thought that a volcano was erupting. The thunder was followed by the beginning of rain which I took to be ash falling from the sky, then progressed to hail which, it my panicked mind MUST have been volcanic rock. I jumped out of bed to find my kitties who were all flocking to my door and bumped into the flat mates in the lounge also wondering what was happening.

On talking with others today I hear that a lot of people had the same wake up call which caused power cuts and scares all over town. If it was in your neck of the woods, what did you think was going on? Have you ever had a crazy wake up call?
