Phew! Finally recovered from a busy few weeks. Took the day off work today for a little recovery and it has definitely done me good.
The weekend was quite an adventure. I was picked up at ten in the morning on Friday to head down to Taranaki for the ceroc champs. I arrived there 10 hours later. Considering Taranaki is only about 4 hours away, this was a problem. We took a detour via Waiuru. It was when we got to Waiuru it was accepted that we needed a map. Luckily it was a brilliant sunny day, so the drive was more or less enjoyable.
Then Saturday was the big day. There was a massive turn out of talent from all over New Zealand. Me and my dance partner were lucky enough to get straight through the first round of heats, skipping the second round and being popped straight into the semi-finals, but sadly that’s as far as we made it.
It was no big deal though, because the atmosphere was great and the company was fine. I spent the rest of my evening watching some brilliant performances and enjoying the company of friends.
On Sunday the trip home was MUCH better, since we had gained the services of map and knew where to follow our noses. And now to be honest, it’s such a relief to not need to practice and concentrate on being prepared for a competition. Now I can relax =]
