Good morning human creatures.

I was trying to have a little ponder the other day, to work out which is my favorite room of the house.
I’m a bit undecided you see. It’s definitely not my bedroom, it’s too small and cold and messy. A prime candidate would be the lounge or the kitchen.

If we were judging solely on napability (as in the ability to have a nap) the lounge would win and has won on many many occasions. I believe I have had, in excess of, 50 naps in the lounge. I put this down to the fact there are three wonderful couches there and generally a kitty to cuddle on each.

But we’re not judging solely on napability, because the kitchen has a whole lot of points stored up in the cupboards (not weight watchers points mind you…). The thing is I love food. I really do, I love eating. So by default the kitchen is a contender in this competition if only for the fact it contains food. The fridge and pantry generally hold enough deliciousness to satisfy after a long hard nap. There is a down side to this though, the more you eat – the more dishes you tend to make, and the kitchen is truly a high maintenance room. The question is, is it worth it?

If it came down to it, food is a more important item when it comes to survival. Yes naps are important too but if it was absolutely necessary the floor in the kitchen is sleepable and the plastic bag stash in the cupboard could possibly make a nice (if not noisy) mattress. So if we were going to base this decision on the standard question…if it was the end of the world, the heavens were opening and giant flaming meteors were plummeting to the ground, and you had one chance to save one room of your house, which would it be?

The answer there is the kitchen. No questions asked. Sorry lounge.

But that just poses more questions, more complicated questions. How would you save a room from the end of the world? I think perhaps that’s a question best left for another day…
