I made muffins on Sunday for Fathers Day at my parents house. They were blueberry and white chocolate muffins. They looked good, and after a 15 minute anxious wait for the oven to do its thing I yoinked them out to have a look. They were hot and tasty. My eyes danced over their tan exterior, speckled with blue and white deliciousness and fell upon an interesting sight.

The blueberries had leaked a little of their juices over the edge of the muffin holes onto the tray, where these juices had baked and caramelised. Always a curious foodie I had to snap a bit off and try it. I kid you not, it was just like hokey pokey with just a hint of blueberry. It was quite frankly, delicious. Not to mention an amazing discovery.

Got me thinking too, about all the amazing things which have probably been discovered in the same way. Not by muffin making, but purely by accident. Sure there has been a lot in the way of inventions with people setting out to create something and succeeding, but I think discoveries are just as exciting as creations. I’m thinking like, the accidental invention of bubblegum and post-it notes. Well I’ll have you all know, that I was the discoverer of blueberry hokey pokey – you saw it here first folks!
